THE AFTERMATH
Project Area: 240 sq.m.
Project Year: 2022
Location: Nişantaşı, İstanbul
The Aftermath is a tattoo parlor with a 240 sq.m of space located in Nişantaşı, Istanbul. The core of the apartment takes its unique shape from the building's vertical circulation. After taking down the partition walls the core of the building is almost all that is left from the walls. We created our circulation scenario around the core of the building and our design took its shape both from the circulation and the open space plan that we tried to achieve when we decided to strip the interior only to its structural elements.
Universal design is essential in my approach to creating spaces and objects rather than trendy. In my most recent project, The Aftermath, the goal was to create a minimalistic space by showcasing the artworks and tattoos as an element that creates a contemporary atmosphere.
The composition of monochrome surfaces and colorful furniture creates contrast in the studio's style and enhances the impact of the modern aspects of the interior.

To reflect the studio's unique style and artistic approach, we strip the space into its structural elements for achieving an open space plan that connects every area visually and creates a spacious atmosphere for the visitors and the creatives.

For The Aftermath Studios bespoke lockers, we used aerated concrete to create a new surface inside the space, which reflects the tattooing process in an architectural manner.
When getting tattooed, we are sort of getting a new layer in our bodies. We designed the artist's lockers in this same context, a new layer that gives the interior a new story, characteristics, and style.

The partition constructed with mirrors represents the transformation phase of an individual. Both the newbie and anyone who gets
a tattoo at the place can see each other and themselves at the same time from the mirrors and the voids of the partition, which is a metaphor for this exact transformation process. Individuals experiment with their past, present, and future at the same time.
